Harold Wilson spent 16 years on Pennsylvania’s death row. Then the Commonwealth realized that he had poor representation at trial, that prosecutors had cheated, and that Harold’s race had been used against him.
In November, 2005, a Philadelphia jury found Harold not guilty of the crimes for which he had been sentenced to death. Upon his release, Pennsylvania gave him 65 cents and a subway token.
Now Harold has been left to piece his life back together. A donation to the Innocents Assistance Fund will aid Harold with some of life’s most basic needs, including transportation and clothing.
Central Pennsylvanians to Abolish the Death Penalty established the Innocents Assistance Fund to aid those who were wronged by the criminal justice system.
